I think you are missing the point. This is a child's response to tragedy. yellowcanine Jun 2015 #6

I'm sorry, it doesn't make it all ok. Just cleans it up. Kind of like Gone with the Wind and slavery, all done in the name of this very nice, happy, joy crap. Look dear, god makes black angels too!

that's how a 7 year old child processes the horrific event. We as adults know life (and death) are not like that, but little kids should be spared some of the brutal ugliness.

Nothing more. It needs to be accepted for the gift that it is. It doesn't make it ok or clean anything up or cover anything up or excuse what happened. It is a genuine response from a child.

Do you not like dreams?
It is up to the children to have dreams.
It is up to the adults to hold onto their good dreams and make them reality.

...when Grandpa died. It was awesome with Grandpa with angels wings and a huge smile on his face. This little guy was not a Sunday Schooler and I most certainly did not say that Grandpa was an angel now. But that was what he drew. I think it is a self soothing mechanism kids use. My Grandmother was so comforted by the picture. When she moved twenty years later she gave me that hand made card that she had saved.

This picture is charming with Angels holding hearts and peace signs. The Angels and the children are smiling. I love that the kids are holding hearts too! This picture is about children and putting loss in place. No it is not a social commentary, simply a vessel to convey some sort of comfort.
