Recently the Tacoma News Tribune has had 2 editorials supporting the Trans Pacific Partnership from my guess is the editor/owner of the Morning News Tribune. I sent him an e-mail requesting the other side be also an editorial. That the American people can figure it out themselves between the two views...instead of being spoon fed as what to believe. Guess what, there has been no editorial on the view of how the TPP will hurt especially the working class. I would like an explanation from the president why he was so gung ho for it. To reduce medicare to retrain those who will lose their jobs from this travesty called TPP is like robbing the older generation to help the working class (republican values-no new taxes so you who are low income can suffer some more as conservatives seem not to care..maybe they have medical care without worrying how to pay for it?). When in the hell are the lower classes going to get good and fed up with the privileged?

(33,688 posts)the uniformed military would fire on the people when the feces hit the impeller. They remember Ceaucescu.
The sadistic kkkops and mercenary armies will gladly slaughter the populace with nary a second thought.
Unfortunately for them, there are not nearly enough of them to do the job.

(75,480 posts)Missoula Montana used eminent domain to take back control of their water from Carlyle Group that owns Mountain Water. I would like to see our county or a customer controlled cooperative take over our electricity from PG & E. I have experienced in the past utilities both run by the county or run by a consumer owned cooperative. One was for water and power and the other for telephone. Both were less expensive and provided better service that the private for profit corporations.

(5,169 posts)Just wanted to clarify something here. Do you support the nationalization of the New York Times, The Washington Post, Fox News, CNN, CBS News, MSNBC, and the Tacoma News Tribune, to name a few? Or creation of a single federally owned news entity that is legally required to tell the truth and broadcast all points of view?

(75,480 posts)that it's non-partisan, kind of like the Congressional Budget Office. This is to insure that political factions don't take over the message like they have NPR, PBS and much of C-SPAN. Right now I find myself going to foreign TV news Al Jazeera and BBC because so much in our news isn't even reported let alone without a noticeable bias when it can't be ignored and has to be reported. It's like the public option in health care. You can get private insurance if you want but you should have the option to get Medicare if you find it's best for you. We should have the right to get news from a public station when we're done with the networks and commercial cable outlets.

(54,770 posts)owned media. While we sometimes have to put up with some real crud from the likes of FOX and other media outlets, I don't think we'd get the truth just from the government. Look at everyone calling Obama a "lying . . . . . ." over TPP.
It's pretty clear why Obama is for the TPP. You can read it on the USTR and White House websites. There are other aspects -- like positioning ourselves with China -- that aren't necessarily explained there for what should be obvious reasons.
I would love to see the "lower classes" get significant help. To do that, the rich and a lot of the so-called middle class are going to have to pony up. Increasing taxes on the rich, ain't gonna provide for everything we want. I'm not sure most are ready to do that. Of course, we need to cut the military budget big time. Until Congress is removed from Republican control -- not to mention conservative Democrats from areas where more liberal ones have no chance of winning right now -- I doubt much of that is going to happen.

(2,585 posts)how damaging what is going on. My daughter died from a perfectly preventable (death) medical situation leaving a 15 yr daughter. And my daughter (15 yr mother) was working (no medial) made too much money $700 per month to qualify for medicade. I am sick of this nation and I no longer have respect for it. I wonder how many other stories are out there like mine. Apparently in this nation the low income working people have no value at all. What an ugly nation....at this point I hate it. I see too much hurt and damage that people are experiencing (you who do not reside in the lower income area do not see this or do not want to see it so the horror of being alive doesn't even occur to you) Most of us in the lower income group do not have parents to borrow some money from to acquire a business f(like Romney said to do). Our representatives and higher income group just have no idea.
