I don't remember ever having such an emotional day

Except for losing so very many loved ones, especially my dad, this whole day has been almost too much.

And look at us here, agreeing, celebrating and crying together. From the beautiful decisions today, especially marriage equality, to the President signing Amazing Grace at the heart wrenching funeral of Rev/Sen Pinckney.

I need a drink!

rolls around early this evening.

I am even surprised at myself at the amount of deep and genuine joy I feel for all our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters, and I had been predicting this - albeit 6-3 - for months. This is truly a landmark bit of history. Makes one proud to be a member of the species, for once.

as a poll watcher and helped many people cast a vote and get counted when the county poll workers wanted them to cast provisional ballots.

After we reported numbers to party HQ, we filled a club downtown Savannah, Georgia and danced all night long. I've never been hugged and danced with so many older black females in my life. We all celebrated and cried together. My eyes have welled up several times today.

It was such a great day that many in that club never thought would happen while they were alive. A lot of people today are seeing something that they never thought would take place while they were alive. Change can happen quickly when the change is for the right and just and when the people make the change.

It's been a very good day, and a very good week.
