this map paints a different picture.

In fact, slow incremental changes are usually the ONLY way that anything actually gets DONE.

There are many liberal folks who insist that small progressive victories are actually defeats, and progress never goes far enough or fast enough, and they insist on always seeing the glass being half full. I do respect your passion and sense of urgency. However, politics is "the art of the possible" and very often, slow changes are the only way.

To paraphrase President Obama, our country is like a giant aircraft carrier, and it cannot easily turn on a dime. However, if we can make some little 2 degree turns, in ten years time our country will be in a completely different place on the map than we would have been otherwise.

I hope everybody can enjoy this important milestone!

How many gay couples went to court? How many cases were heard? How many pushes from the activist left to make this happen? It took merely a decade, merely, but the fight was there. Always at a low level, in posts that maybe got 10 recs, and sank like a brick, all the while the administration and government was chastised for not doing enough.

I think this is unprecedented in history, the first ban was in 1999, and the entire country almost banned it 13 years later, 3 years later all the bans were lifted, thanks in large part to those incremental changes forced upon the justice system for people fighting for their rights.

5-10 years marijuana is legalized.

10-20 years basic income is expected and guaranteed to every single person.

The good thing is I get to live to see it barring some accident or unfortunate circumstance.

Been calling it for years and we now have 4 states... should be another 7 by 2016...

But it's just not an issue a lot of people are negative enough about, even though MJ has resulted in hundreds of thousands in jail.

I'll admit I was pleasantly surprised that Justice Kennedy made the right decision.

And I stood in line for a few hours to vote for gay marriage in MD in 2012 and governor O'Malley signed it into law. It boosted the economy from the pent up demand for weddings.
