Olivia De Havilland is 99 years old today. Still no Kennedy Center Honors. Disgraceful.

I cannot believe that she has been overlooked, given her incredible body of work and recognition as one of the great actresses of her era. She's the only one left of that era, but that's not why she deserves this recognition. It's because of her class and talent. What are they thinking?!?

On November 17, 2008, at the age of 92, de Havilland received the National Medal of Arts, the highest honor conferred to an individual artist on behalf of the people of the United States. The medal was presented to her by President George W. Bush "for her persuasive and compelling skill as an actress in roles from Shakespeare's Hermia to Margaret Mitchell's Melanie. Her independence, integrity, and grace won creative freedom for herself and her fellow film actors."[56]
