Kansas Is Becoming A Hard Place To Teach, So Teachers Are Crossing The State Line

http://kcur.org/post/kansas-becoming-hard-place-teach-so-teachers-are-crossing-state-line

"A billboard along the Kansas Turnpike eight miles east of Lawrence reads: Independence Missouri School District. Hiring teachers for 2015-2016.

"Yes, we do have two billboards in Kansas, along major areas where people drive," says Independence Superintendent Dr. Dale Herl. He also has another billboard near Wichita.

His district is growing by hundreds of students a year and for 2015-2016 he needed a lot of teachers fast.

Turns out, there seems to be plenty from Kansas looking for jobs elsewhere."

Missouri doesn't even pay teachers much more than KS

the border. We go to KC frequently and are going to start planning our shopping so that we can get things we can wait for when we are in KC, Missouri.

Kansas apparently has to suffer a lot more before they change. And they will suffer a lot more in the next 3 1/2 years of Brownback. Will it change anything? Kinda seems like it has changed pretty quickly but they have their plans to look like good guys every election cycle and it always makes them look not so bad. We will see but for now we are going to order what we can and get the rest in KC. Sadly groceries have to be bought here.

If I was working a job that I could possibly move to Missouri to do I would.

because we still have a growing population and our teachers are leaving in droves. Charlotte needs nearly 1000 teachers in a district with about 10000 teachers. Wake County had over 1000 resign last year, not sure how many this year. We are the lowest paid in the Southeast except for Louisiana and the third lowest in the country. The legislature has taken tenure away but the courts suspended that for now. Over 3/4 of teaching assistants have been removed from classrooms. We are still spending less per pupil than in 2008. It short, it is a mess here.

They are 1 RW Brownback clone governor away from full Koch. Their lege has already tried the tax cut scam.
