(75,480 posts)Wouldn't he following John Oliver on HBO be the best?

(4,461 posts)... and I'm not giving up hope - maybe he didn't want to be the guy who followed the guy, but instead will be the guy who followed the guy who followed the guy.
At the very least he should have a show somewhere.

(19,537 posts)... or some nonsense like that, since he was pretty old when he left the Democrats to be a Republican.

(23,099 posts)They also talk about getting Repug presidents to help the economy - total lie. Every Repug president from Ronnie on down has upped the deficit and hurt the country, starting unnecessary wars of choice. The economy always improves when a Dem is in office. yet, Repugs still vote for other Repugs because "economy". Stupid lies!! Just saying something over and over and over and over and from the rooftops doesn't make it so. However, it does get the sheeple to buy-in to voting against their best interests way way too often.

(19,537 posts)I guess it kind of prep'd him for the kind of personalities he'd be working with in the party he moved to. Those Bonzo was probably a lot nicer and I'm sorry if I insulted him or other apes.

(19,537 posts)... and I certainly wouldn't look for a DVD to watch it on today either...
This role just seems the most visible of his roles from when I could remember this topic being disscussed.
I guess the most disgusting thing about him in his early days that I regret (but am glad I wasn't young enough to have to endure that back in the 30's) was when he was the voice of the Iowa Hawkeyes on the radio early on then. But I guess at least he was a Democrat then!

(26,621 posts)"Too many actors have run for office," he writes. "There's one difference between me and them: I know I'm not qualified. In my opinion, Arnold Schwarzenegger wasn't qualified to be governor of California. Ronald Reagan wasn't qualified to be governor, let alone president. I was a vice president of the Screen Actors Guild when he was its president. My duties consisted of attending meetings and voting. The only thing I remember is that Ronnie never had an original thought and that we had to tell him what to say. That's no way to run a union, let along a state or a country."
