Conservative blog The Daily Caller posted an article with the headline: "Barack Obama, Wife Beater."
The July 1 post, posted just before midnight with an anonymous "Daily Caller contributor" byline, featured just five words -- "He's wearing a wife beater" -- accompanied by two pictures of President Obama, in which a "wife-beater" sleeveless shirt is visible under his white dress shirt. The headline read "Barack Obama, Wife Beater."

Fox News anchor Bill OReilly, known for his hardline stance on family values and violence in the home, allegedly assaulted his ex-wife, dragging her down the stairs by her neck in front of the pairs now 16-year-old daughter, according to court documents.
The documents were part of a recently-concluded child custody case in New York, in which a judge ruled that OReillys ex-wife Maureen McPhilmy would get custody of their two children. Though the vast majority of the cases documents have been sealed because they deal with minors, Gawker has been able to confirm that the judge did in fact hear testimony about the alleged incident, which took place around 2010.
The allegation is just the latest in a string of incidents that have come to light following the couples divorce.
According to Gawker, OReilly has not only attempted to have his ex-wife excommunicated from the Roman-Catholic church (which views getting divorced and remarried as a sin against God), but he also used his influence to launch an internal investigation into McPhilmys new boyfriend, a Nassau County Police detective.
OReilley has also been a on record as blaming minorities plight on familial issues, including domestic violence.

(3,433 posts)6. Its called click bait.
While this is one of the more extreme and repugnant examples, this behavior is by no means isolated to the Daily Caller. All of the online news media websites engage in this crap. It is a means to get people to click on articles which drives up page hits which in turn generates advertising revenue. My guess is that this was far more about manipulating and exploiting right wing dbags into creating revenue for the DC than an attack on the president.
