Remember Caitlyn the pit bull with her mouth duct-taped shut?

Shirtless Firefighters Pose With Abused Pit Bull For Charity, Set Our Hearts Aflame

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/07/02/caitlyn-dog-calendar_n_7712892.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

?16&random=1435879095300

Caitlyn the pit bull was discovered with her muzzle taped shut in late May, in North Charleston, South Carolina.

She was so badly injured at the time that staff from the Charleston Animal Society, which assumed Caitlyn's care, worried she might not make it.

But after a lot of medical treatment, and a whole lot of love, Caitlyn is doing great. (Her alleged abuser was arrested and charged with animal cruelty in early June.)

She's now recovering in a foster home, where she has a new best doggie friend.

And in her spare time, Caitlyn is starring with area firefighters in a really, really ridiculously good-looking calendar -- the proceeds of which will help other abused, abandoned and neglected animals also get medical care.

Warning: do NOT click on link if you can't handle the pics of Caitlin's condition when found.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/owner-dog-who-mouth-taped-5815682

Gist of news story: "Owner of dog who had its mouth taped shut is arrested after photos of brutal cruelty went viral", from June 3, 2015.

"A man has been charged with animal torture after being accused of taping a dog's mouth shut, resulting in horrendous injuries. Caitlyn's wounds sparked global outrage when images of them surfaced last week, and police believe 41-year-old William Leonard Dodson is responsible.

They arrested and charged him on Monday in connection with the injuries, which were caused by her mouth being shut with electrical tape."

The arrest was made after the Humane Society of the United States offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. Kim Kelly, the society's South Carolina state director, said: "This was an extremely depraved act of cruelty, and we're grateful to North Charleston Animal Control for investigating and making an arrest."

Again - a shout out to those who investigate these crimes, and pursue those responsible.

Because the picture of her still taped up, was impossibly horrendous to me. How could she get any air? Why didn't she suffocate long before anyone could help her.

Her doggy angel was with her, or something.

These photos are great. Go to the link and see more of them. She has the most beautiful smile, doesn't she?

I approve this message!!!

There are several people on this board who inexplicably rush to vilify every Pit Bull on every Pit post and I will ignore their posts from “dog bites dot com”. To them, in the spirit of the holiday I say fuck you - - you’re as ignorant as they come!!

I never set out to adopt a pit. I am a 40-something business woman with a dog (labrador mix) and several cats. I met my little pittie and life hasn’t been the same since. She is an ambassador for her breed and my best friend. When, like a typical liberal, I opened my mind, I found the most amazing dog breed ever.

decided to rescue a lab/pit mix. I told her she had to find the dog a home as we have too many animals.

That all changed the day I was cornered by the neighbor's bulldog. The pit heard the commotion and flew to my rescue like a bat out of hell! She was just a puppy, probably not 6 months at the time, but she tore up some serious bulldog butt.

That sealed it. I got a new BFF!

It is a real miracle she was able to survive the torture the monster inflicted on this innocent sweetie.

As someone in the thread already mentioned, you can SEE the difference in her well-being in her eyes now. What a wonderful sight.

Whoever helped her so much deserves all the praise in the world.

...than compassion towards animals (or any other vulnerable beings for that matter). I probably wouldn't have looked twice at those guys, to be honest, but because of the context of what they're doing, I suddenly notice how hot they are.

Caitlyn's recovery is the best feel-good story in awhile, and I just can't tell you how moving it is when we see yet another horribly abused dog who somehow manages to remain friendly and loving towards people even after all they've suffered.

cases with local lab groups (I have rescued a few myself and help out a local group here in Houston). Things like acid poured on dogs etc... There is a particular ward (area of the city) where people dump a lot of dogs. I give what I can towards treatment and you'd be surprised how well some of them are able to heal once they have good Vet care and a foster family to keep them indoors. Some amazingly sad cases tho ...
