It is classical conservative quote and I wonder what is wrong with it. I have my own opinion but I would like to hear from other DUers on it.

(52,387 posts)sounds like typical right-wing babbling illogic but with a tone of derision designed to glom negative feelings onto left-wing words like "socialism".
i think, putting aside the implication that tax revenues are "other peoples' money" instead of a civic duty, the statement is trying to make the claim that socialists can't balance a budget.
which is transparently false. they always rail about how high taxes are in socialist countries, and there's your answer. of course they can balance a budget, they just do it with higher taxes. more revenue and more expenditures than a more right-wing budget, which would be less revenue and less expenditures.
but a larger balance sheet has nothing to do with making it more or less able to be balanced.
here in the u.s., certainly, the evidence is strong that it's the right-wing that can't balance a budget. in fact, the typical republican plan is to let the democrats get in to raise taxes and balance the budget and even build a surplus, so that the right-wing can come in and loot the treasury.
meaning, it should be, the problem with *right-wing* policies is that eventually, you run out of other people's money -- at which point the cycle repeats, and they step aside so the left can fix their mess. all so they can loot it again....
