Dad fatally shot while holding his baby on Bronx street
A Bronx dad was shot in the head while carrying his 1-year-old daughter in his arms on Tuesday — and his killer walked away laughing, sources and witnesses said.
Allen McQueen, 21, was taking his little girl to play in a park when the gunman approached them on Taylor Avenue near Guerlain Street in Parkchester around 1:30 p.m., cops said.
Witnesses said McQueen was struck while trying to shield the baby. He crumpled to the ground, sending daughter Taylor tumbling onto the sidewalk.
“The guy who got shot had the baby in his hands. He was trying to run for cover because he was trying to protect the little girl,” said Louis Mestre, 32.
“Once he got hit, he went down, and the child went down with him,” Mestre said.

Allen McQueen was a “very active gang member” in the Parkchester neighborhood, but the way he was killed was a new low, Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said.
“No matter how much of a criminal record the individual with the baby had, to assassinate that individual in the full view of a public playground right across the street” crosses a line, Bratton said.
“I think the public can fully appreciate our continuing and expanding efforts to get these people off the streets. They have a total lack of consciousness of human dignity and human life and we are doing all we can to scoop them up.”

McQueen had been arrested 23 times, mostly for robbery and assault, and was known to pack heat. He also ran with a violent street gang that bears both his daughter’s name and that of the street on which he was killed — the Taylor Crew.

Yeeeaaahhhh, riiiigggghhhhtttt.
because we all know that criminals will license and insure their weapons.
Another black child loses a father to gang violence and gang culture. Sadly even if Mr. McQueen wasn't a criminal or gang member, in an environment like that he would still be victimized in some way. God help his daughter.
