Jeb says you don't understand his hours comment

“You can take it out of context all you want, but high sustained growth means people work 40 hours rather than 30 hours and that by our success they have disposable income for their families to decide how they want to spend it rather than standing in line and being dependent upon government,” he said. “If anyone is celebrating this anemic recovery, then they are totally out of touch,” Bush said. “The simple fact is people are really struggling. So giving people a chance to work longer hours has got to be part of the answer. If not, you are going to see people lose hope. And that’s where we are today.”

So to correct our interpretation. He wants us to work more hours than the shorter hours we hypothetically are working in his fact devoid view of the hours the current American worker is doing, because his brother using the same economic philosophy Jeb has destroyed the US economy and it has been too slow to recover from his brother destroying the economy.

I hope that clears things up for you.

There's nothing in the average employee's experience to suggest that working harder/smarter/better will cause their income to rise.

You're still in a very bad place on this one, Jeb. Sorry, man.

Bush wants everybody who isn't rich to simply work themselves to death. Thus, rich people will profit more.

Oh and I guess he's still OK with his no minimum wage argument . . .

9. Is Jeb going to mandate a 40 hour workweek?

It's the same ol' trickle down. Remove all taxes and regulation and the "job creators" will create 4% growth and every body will have 40 hour weeks and increased income. We know for a fact that keeping workers part time is a business strategy these days.

11. A Couple Of Observations Here.....

1. Why is it when a Repug says something stupid like Jeb did on this - that after they take some flack on it - they say either we 'don't understand the comments' or 'they misspoke'? We all know what Jeb was saying and who he was directing his comments to - but we caught him and now he wants to take it back. This IMHO his statement on jobs and working more is his 47% Rmoney gotcha.

2. How many Repug employers are only employing their workers 30 hrs/wk to get around ACA? If he wants workers to work 40hr/wk he needs to tell those Repug employers that are gaming the system to let their employees work a 40hr/wk. You can't have it both ways guys. Most people that are only given a 30hr/wk would gladly put in the extra 10hrs for the money.

The man is an entitled, elitist asshole who thinks mowing a lawn with a power mower once a week is hard physical labor.

The only way to get those "more hours" for part time workers with patchworks of jobs is to raise wages, increasing demand, and that will cause employers to increase their hours to meet that increased demand.

Rich boys like Jebbie who were brought up with all those funny rich boy slogans have absolutely no clue about the demand side of the capitalist equation. All they can ever see is the dollars escaping their grasp into the pockets of people they look down on.

So yeah, Jebbie, we understood, we're not as stupid as you think we are.

14. Average American worker works 47 hours/week already

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/on-leadership/wp/2014/09/02/the-average-work-week-is-now-47-hours/

The work week is even longer for salaried workers (an average of 49 hours), likely because employers don't have to worry about paying them overtime. According to the Gallup poll, half of salaried full-time employees said they work 50 or more hours each week.
