Last year, a Galapagos sea lion named Panchita was caught up in a net, which left deep cuts all over her body. She managed to make it to this hotel, where animal advocates nursed her back to health for 3 months. After she was fully healed, she was released back into the wild. But every day, she returns to rest with the humans who rescued her, after being out at sea all day. She is now pregnant and expecting within a month.
This is just squee!!!!

This was so cute that my wife insisted that I share this with my friends on DU.
They had some other cute stuff on there, too!

I know ... that's a cold eye ... But I find rarely do human/wild life interactions end well for the wild life.

(23,272 posts)I hope the hotel has a plan to deal with this for the foreseeable future. It's cute now but when she's taught pups number 3 and 4 the same trick and the hotel has five or more sea lions on the chairs (with the attendant animal waste on patio), it may get not-so-cute pretty fast.
It COULD be okay if the hotel has thought this out.
But the more typical end to these things isn't pretty, you're right.

(16,168 posts)hotel accounts and do some internet shopping for the best places that take sea lions then pass the discounts on to her pups.
