My first thought is that it works better with Scout as a kid, but it could be that I'm just used to the story being told that way. I do think that is part of what made the original so special though (seeing it all through the eyes of a young person).

There is one turn of events that is just shocking to me. I was trying to use spoiler tags but it didn't work so I'll leave it out but be careful of the Internet the next few days. Even googling "Go Set A Watchman" will show you headlines with this spoiler.

Thank you for the heads-up. Ms. Lee is someone truly special, for ALL interested in justice and democracy.

Better yet, they are fast friends with very good people.
I am saddened that one of her longest forever friends, the Rev. of the Methodist Church here, is now in long term care.
He is a very kind soul, and is 95 now.

We learn quite a bit more about Atticus. And some people are not going to like it. Suffice to say he's a man of his time and doesn't conform to modern racial sensibilities in every circumstance.
