Her description of "Maycomb and Maycomb County" are accurate, and she uses real names in listing the towns on the railroad line, except for Maycomb of course.

(58,724 posts)My first thought is that it works better with Scout as a kid, but it could be that I'm just used to the story being told that way. I do think that is part of what made the original so special though (seeing it all through the eyes of a young person).

I am saddened that one of her longest forever friends, the Rev. of the Methodist Church here, is now in long term care.
He is a very kind soul, and is 95 now.

(3,813 posts)We learn quite a bit more about Atticus. And some people are not going to like it. Suffice to say he's a man of his time and doesn't conform to modern racial sensibilities in every circumstance.
