Why the GOP Won’t Renounce Trump

“Republican Party leaders agonize over the prospect that Donald Trump will mount a third-party candidacy that could undermine their nominee. They fear insulting the white working-class voters who admire him. They are loath to tangle with a threat-flinging firebrand for whom there are no rules of engagement,” the New York Times reports.

“Since the start of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign, a vexing question has hovered over his candidacy: Why have so many party leaders — privately appalled by Mr. Trump’s remarks about immigrants from Mexico — not renounced him?”

“It turns out, interviews show, that the mathematical delicacy of a Republican victory in 2016 — and its dependence on aging, anxious white voters — make it exceedingly perilous for the Republican Party to treat Mr. Trump as the pariah many of its leaders now wish he would become.”

2. Their base are the bottom feeders who the GOP helped cultivate through propaganda

they have spread for decades. Be afraid of welfare, be afraid of regulations, be afraid of
immigrants..Be afraid..............Fill in the blank.

Trump and his blatant racist rants may ensure another defeat for the Republicans
to win back the WH. Jeb Bush sure is doing his part by suggesting Americans need
to work longer hours.

5. The GOP has a problem, without racism they don't have a base.

Right now, Trump appeals to that base and can say whatever he wants to. The other clowns are 'politicians' that fear each and every word they might utter will hurt them in the primary.

Trump don't give a shit, he says what he thinks without a filter.

6. Quite plausible. The GOP needs time to peal off the fulmination vote from Trump...

To speak against him now would cause the spittle-flyers to solidify around Trump. Who would be the likely candidate to get that vote AND appear legit enough to win the presidency? Tough one. Scott Walker has the meaness, intelligence, and wrecking-ball effectiveness the GOPers want, but he doesn't seem to have the national flare.

7. Because the more outrageous Trump becomes, the higher his poll numbers surge

He's gone from being dismissed as a celebrity candidate who possibly couldn't hold a candle to Cruz & Paul to now leading all the other GOP candidates after his remarks about Mexico. His defense of traditional marriage after the Supreme Court ruling was also popular. Basically, the more hate he spews the more popular he becomes.

They can't disown him because he says in public what most of the klowns on the bus and the base actually think.

because he has enough money, and even more ego, that he's completely uncontrollable

and they dont want his fight directed at them, which it would be, if they renounced him
