I loved Sharif in all of the films he was in in those days! He will be missed a lot!

I met him about 30 years ago and fell in love with him then. He became great friends with my dad because they were both born in Egypt. My dad is 3 years younger than him and Mr. Sharif acted like his big brother (my Dad was the oldest son, so it was funny to see this at the time).

I saw that he had alzheimers and that is why he was out of the limelight for the last few years. We have lost a great legend in cinema. He will be missed as a great person as well.

Years ago I knew a lady who traveled a lot after retirement. She told me a story about waiting for a flight to Egypt in some near eastern country in the 1960s. The airport didn't have walls. It was cold and foggy. There were goats. The lady and her traveling companion were huddled and miserable when a man stopped and told them, "Don't worry, soon you will be in my country and you will be warm." It was Omar Sharif.
