I recently read an enlightening book-

By Milton Myers written in the post WW2 era called "They Thought they were Free" It is about how the average German citizen was sucked into being a Nazi, So you ask what's that have to do with anything? Amazingly quite a lot, As when one asks how did Americans get sucked into being worked like slaves for corporate profits, Or asks how all our rights and benefits of being citizens of America have been put in danger of being dissolved by politicians in the pockets of those same corporations, Or asks how did we get into all these wars for empirical gain , All while the citizens of America just go along with the propaganda being foisted upon them, As was done in WW2 to the Germans, It all comes down to conform or die, If you speak out you will die or be marginalized if you act out you will be arrested and imprisoned, if you refuse to participate in the scam you will be relegated to poverty, There by the PTB keep the citizens in abject fear of losing what little one has, putting children in danger of homelessness starving or worse. This is life in America today ,You owe your soul to the corporate store. I say get up stand up stand up for what is your right, A life without fear.
