The controversy began when Pao fired Reddits popular AMA coordinator Victoria Taylor. Subreddits appeared across the site calling for her resignation, as well as over 200,000 people signing a Change.org petition urging her to step down. Paos being replaced by Reddit cofounder and former chief, Steve Huffman. Pao was CEO for eight months.
Earlier this week, Pao publicly acknowledged poor handling of not just the Taylor situation, but for many instances of bad community management. She will stick around as an board advisor, Reddit says.

(17,086 posts)She's had a not very good, lousy year. Looks like the clock is ticking on her appeal: "Notice of appeal was filed June 1, 2015, 7 days before the deadline of June 8. Plaintiff has 40 days to specify her grounds for appeal."

Anybody want to place a bet on her not suing Reddit?

Alphonse Fletcher vs. Kidder Peabody
In 1991, after working as an equity trader at Kidder Peabody, Fletcher filed a lawsuit in New York state court for employment racial discrimination. The New York Court of Appeals ruled that Fletcher's claim must be arbitrated. In a NYSE arbitration, Fletcher was awarded $1.26 million, and in a subsequent arbitration, the racial discrimination claim was dismissed.
Dakota lawsuit
In February 2011, Fletcher filed a lawsuit against the Board of Directors of The Dakota co-op building in Manhattan, where he had lived since 1992 and owned four apartments.[4] Among other things, he alleged defamation and unlawful discrimination.[27] In March 2010, Fletcher had signed a contract to purchase a fifth apartment at The Dakota, intending to combine it with his current home. The Dakota board said it rejected Fletcher's application based on the financial materials he provided in his application.
Hedge fund meltdown
In March 2014, The New York Times reported that "The trustee overseeing the bankruptcy of the investment firm once led by the flashy money manager Alphonse Fletcher Jr. has reached a $4.25 million settlement with the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom." The overall legal fees generated by Fletcher and his wife Ellen Pao have been estimated at over $40m.

After more than two years at reddit, I have resigned today. My first day was April 1, 2013 (go orangered!), and every day since has been an adventure.
In my eight months as reddits CEO, Ive seen the good, the bad and the ugly on reddit. The good has been off-the-wall inspiring, and the ugly made me doubt humanity....

(12,530 posts)Here, we have groups like Fiction, Photography, Netflix, and so on.
At Reddit, they have the same, only they have lots more content. Each section of Reddit is called a subreddit, and you get to the subreddit using this format:
http://www.reddit.com/r/photography , i.e., after reddit.com, add /r/, and then the name of the subreddit you're interested in. There are many thousands of subreddits. Some are extremely busy (/r/politics, /r/news). Some hardly get any activity. You can create your own subreddits if you'd like.
Here are a couple of my favorite subreddits for general interest:
/r/TodayILearned : lots of people like this one. Example post: TIL the longest point in pro tennis history was a 643-shot rally that lasted for 29 minutes. Lots of trivial and not-so-trivial facts available here.
/r/historyporn : No, it's not pornography--it's historical photos. Example: photos of the Hindenburg exploding, pictures of bills being signed into law, pictures of women assembling aircraft in WW2, and so on.
I have lots of more specific subreddits I subscribe to, e.g., /r/bordercollie (I have one), /r/iphone (I have one), /r/bbq (I have a Weber grill), /r/rush (love the band, not the AM radio freak), and so on. Anything you're interested in, from gardening to simple living to marijuana to rabbit foot collecting, you can find a group on reddit that covers it.

(12,530 posts)and I'm aware of some of the subreddits that are mysoginistic, but I'm not subscribed to those subreddits--I don't see what's being said there. The subreddits I subscribe to are effectively moderated, and I don't see that sort of thing (with some exceptions in humor-related groups). You have a great deal of control over what you do and don't see.

(8,692 posts)It reminds me of when I worked for a major retailer, a woman from a store out of state was brought in to cover the manager on maternity leave. She came from a much smaller store and just saw waste everywhere she looked and fired most of the merchandising people within the first couple of weeks.
The store looked like a Wal-Mart the day after Black Friday almost immediately thereafter.
I gotta tell ya though, I did a great fucking job on the window displays. Oh wait, no I didn't. Actually I did such a bad job the designer rep had a temper-tantrum. I did not know for instance that they explicitly forbade using mannequins with nipples. Did I mention I worked in Supply Chain Internal Audit?

ask a scientist- subs like this don't put up with any junk whatsoever

Where else can you do this (except for the new reddit- voat.co)
There's probably a sub for your own community.
