we do hear about it when he is in the hospital here in Houston. Any fall at that age is cause for concern. I wish he and his family well (and also wish that they would stay away from politics).

...is that he's in good shape considering his age and medical issues. I have relatives about the same age who are described as "fine" by their doctors if they're not actively dying.

I'll consider myself to be "fine" no matter what else might be wrong with me.

While he may tandem, it's still several thousand feet, major stresses on the body in free fall then deceleration, and then a thump on the ground. That's a pretty tough ride at age 90 for most people.

My first jump was a tandem jump. It was every bit as exciting as the solo jumps.

My mother turns 91 tomorrow. She's getting along OK, but I wouldn't say she's fine. She has health issues, but I don't know anyone that age who doesn't have some health issues. My father turns 91 in October. Survival to that age is remarkable enough. As my father says, "Well, I"m able to stand and take nourishment, so I guess I'm OK."

Happy Birthday, Mom!

How wonderful to still have your parents - few make it to that age, let alone both of them.

appointment with his cardiologist. He has an implanted defibrillator. As always, both of my parents were in the office together. He looked at them, after he got the readout from the device and said, "You two are the oldest couple I've ever seen in my practice. You both seem to be doing quite well. See you in six months."

Sadly, I'm halfway across the country from them. I talk to them every day for a half hour or so on the phone, though, so we're always in touch. I'll relay your birthday greetings tomorrow.
