Brother of Aurora victim Jessica Ghawi speaks out against death penalty for shooter

I have no doubt that the jury will return a guilty verdict on all 166 counts. I am only concerned with the sentencing phase. #TheaterTrial

Incredibly thankful for the hard work put forth by the Arapahoe DA's Office, the survivors, @AuroraPD, and the expert witnesses.

Still incredibly disappointed that this trial had to happen and that the DA's office apparently defines "justice" as death.

Justice is doing what it morally right. Advocating for death is not, nor will ever be, just. 12 people died on 7/20/12. What does 1 more do?

It wouldn't have brought me closure, it just would have made a senseless death worse by compounding it. I was 16. I got my wish although nobody asked me what I wanted. He eventually died in prison, but was not murdered by the state.
