Mr. President...thank you (Denver ABC Channel 7 News editorial)

Excerpt:

Mr. President, on behalf of an ungrateful nation, thank you

Some points to ponder about Obama's record

WASHINGTON, D.C. - I’ve never written a column like this. Readers rarely believe it, but I am not on any political team. Generosity toward the high and mighty isn’t among my few virtues. But this needs to be said: Americans are lucky to have Barack Obama as president and we should wake up and appreciate it while we can.

President Obama will go down in history as an extraordinary president, probably a great one. He will have done this in era that doesn’t aggrandize leaders and presidents, but shrinks them. All presidents have had profound opposition, vicious enemies and colossal failures. A few were beloved and others deeply respected in their day, but none in the modern era and certainly not Obama.

...

Many presidents fared better in history than in office. But it would be a morale booster and a sign of civic maturity if more Americans appreciated what an exceptional president they have right now. It could be a long wait for the next one.

And thank you, Dick Meyer.

We appreciate our President here, a lot of us LOVE him, all of us think he's doing more than any other president ever did, and we're already getting sad that we will lose him.

He can speak on any topic, sing blues, love songs, and church hymns, dance, and knows how to talk to leaders of other nations...and they like him...

We have been blessed and I'm glad I lived long enough to see this man elected...too bad that a 3rd term was made unlawful because I think he'd win again.

THANK YOU for your post, frogmarch...

I agree with everything you said. He's one of a kind and we are very fortunate to have him as our president. I'll miss him, as I know I'm not alone here in that. Yes, too bad a third term is out.

about his accomplishments. Can I put a check mark behind every single thing that I wanted him to do? NO, but then I can put a check mark behind things I never thought a current President could accomplish. He was the right man for the right time and he will be remembered fondly as a great President. History will be kind to Pres Obama.

If it were possible, I would vote for President Obama for a third term without a moment's hesitation.

but just wait until the TPP kicks in and we'll see how well he's remembered.

Another thing, he helped Wall Street and ignored Main Street.

Don't get me wrong, I voted for him twice. He's better than any republican alternative.

Just how am I counting on it? To prove I'm right? Wow!

I just couldn't believe that Obama pushed harder than anything he's pushed for so far in his presidency just to pass 'Fast Track'. Look, he didn't listen to his constituency and instead he listened to corporations. If that doesn't piss you off then nothing will regarding his presidency so far.

But saying I'm looking forward to it and counting on it, that's some messed up shit right there.

He pushed harder...he pushed harder...I hear that BS all the time when people feel a certain way about a subject. If that's the way you feel...fine! I don't. So, if you like it, I love it for you. Moving right along.....

When, specifically, do people use "he pushed harder" when they feel a certain way about a subject?

How about: He was very industrious, to a zealous degree, when he wanted to have trade promotion authority.

I could not tear myself away from Obama's press conference Wed.; it went on over an hour and he never missed a beat. His defense of the Iran agreement was superb; he answered every question on wide-ranging topics with a depth of understanding and thoughtfulness that was awesome. There are so few of the world's leaders who can cover and express their ideas and policies like Obama can.

I kept thinking back to W Bush's press conferences; he never had a clue about "nucuelar" treaties or any other kind. Like the 16 Republican clowns it's painful when they open their mouths.

Like Jimmy Carter I'm afraid Obama won't be appreciated until he's out of office but I hope he will know how many of us want to say thank you.
