I was already familiar with HC and our Bernie Sanders, and was glad to see and hear O'Malley, Chaffee, and Webb in more than just soundbites.
They all had a different way of talking about their presidential aspirations,
and I don't think we'd go wrong with any of them.
I found them all to be very likable, well, almost all.

Will look at back at him in a few years and realize that he has been a very good President, especially considering the intransigence of the Republican opposition to anything he tried to do. The desire for an ideologically perfect President is understandable but unrealistic.

(10,044 posts)and it's strange to me that everyone else hears him too....
He makes the State of the Union Speech, and the Inaugural Address sound like a pal talking, just talking about some tv program or the weather, so natural and unpretentious.
Y'know what? Jeb Bush said today that he wished he could speak like Obama, he said that "Obama lights up the room" and he wishes he had that ability. Nice of Jeb to say that, but it's true that Obama is one in a million.

as a symbol of southern pride, and says that Bernie and Elizabeth Warren and the Democratic party has moved too far to the left, I would suggest he is feeling his republican roots, and should go back to them

(10,044 posts)Was a Marine with a bunch of medals including 2 Purple Hearts and the Navy Cross..
He was very poor and if not for FDR, his family would not have had a "safety net" and that's one of his shticks...safety nets for Americans..when times are bad. He's married to a Vietnamese woman who was a refugee.
That flag business isn't too favorable for him, but it would help to hear his side of the story.. He's from Arkansas and that would be interesting.
He authored the 9-ll Veterans' Benefits bill when he was in the Senate.

(92,433 posts)confederate flag, or his disparaging comments toward Sanders and Warren, who ironically support the type of policies that helped him when he was poor. His views against the Iran deal are quite disturbing also:

Because he is married to a Viet Namese refugee may be fine and good, but it has very little to do with his conservative views. Look at John McCain, a POW who adopted a daughter from Bangladesh. All very honorable and a good endeavor, however, it has nothing to do with his eagerness to engage the U.S. in middle east wars, nor his view that Martin Luther King should NOT have a day honoring his memory. He subsequently "evolved" on that issue, but that he would even be against it really questions not only into his judgement, but his philosophy.
