It's raining in Southern California! Unbelievable! Astounding!

We are wondering how long it will last. First we had thunder. When I walked out of my house this morning, I noticed my car had random drops of water on it. Very curious. There were noises -- maybe thunder, maybe airplanes in the distance.

It was the real thing -- thunder and water. Rain.

It's been a long time since we had rain in our back yard.

Did someone do a rain dance or something?

Miracles do happen!

Though a tad more muscular than the NWS was expecting. They actually closed down the airport in San Diego for a few minutes due to strikes.

So far...no fires, so we are still going to go to Pride.

I have not been watching weather down there, but summer rain in Southern California is typically weather that migrated from the Gulf of Mexico and snuck in over the desert ...

Be careful out there ..

this was predicted for tonight. So it was not a pleasant surprise as it started to thunder. The two birds slept through it.

particular enclave of Los Angeles. It's hot and dry here. But this tiny bit of rain will keep some of my plants going another day.

I collect all my run-off water from pre-hair-washing, pre-dish-washing, vegetable and fruit washing, etc. in buckets and put it on my plants. I may be developing muscles I didn't know I had just from carrying buckets of water around my yard.

The drought is really tough.

With lightning at about a mile away at pride.

Tom and I are the remaining media.

And we finally gave up, as soon as we got the thunder to far closer... we were not the only ones to just gie up.

We were soaked when we got home.

The rain stopped minutes after it started.

Still, everyone I think will agree, even a few drops are cause for a celebration.

Our rain only lasted a few minutes, probably less than five minuted. But we actually had thunder. My husband an I thought it might be about three years since we heard thunder in our neighborhood. It's been so long that I hesitated to call it thunder at first.

The drought is extreme this year.
