$153,161.25 US dollars.
And they only have two weeks to pay it. I guess they'll just have to sell the second Ferrari sitting in their eight car garage.

(135,425 posts)I found a conversation at Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/3dngld/this_is_the_cost_of_a_rattlesnake_bite_in_america/
The pic was also featured at a site called "Daily Fail." 4Chan also had it.
No real explanation as to whose bill it is, etc.

(15,139 posts)hours in the emergency room cost a relative $6000 out of pocket last year. That was his portion after his "Silver Plan" (premium $589 per month) paid 70% (less deductible).
The cost of hospital care in this country is outrageous. Those without insurance or with crappy plans can still easily lose their shirts when injury or illness strike.

(12,022 posts)For crotalid bites maybe not as expensive, but maybe this was a snake collector bitten by something unusual. The fact there's an ICU charge means patient had systemic complications and may have required blood products, which is also expensive.

(20,886 posts)I can't believe this is for a rattlesnake bite. Generally speaking, the worst you can get from a rattlesnake bite is a divot out of your flesh from necrosis around the bite. This could be the exception, but it's not likely it is a rattlesnake bite.

Kid was in the hospital for a few days, and just putting together the likely and all that, swelling got really bad, compartment syndrome likely. Playing a Dr. Frist but with HIPPA it is not like they will tell us.

(50,271 posts)Until this country changes - which will probably be never - you have to find alternatives to medical bankruptcy. It's a shame they don't sell antibiotics over the counter to go with the super glue.
