Was it distinguished? Any decorations?
Thanks in advance for your help.

(14,400 posts)the most incredible military service of anybody who's ever ducked military service.
That piece of shit was able to avoid service just as well as any of the chickenhawk fucks like GWB or Dick Cheney or Paul Wolfowitz. He deserves a medal for the amount of bobbing and weaving he did to avoid actually having to do any kind of military work.

(16,113 posts)Or Joe Biden's, or President Obama's, or Bill Clinton's, or Martin O'malley, or Scott walker's, or Romney's... If you're looking to make any hay from "he didn't serve" you're going to spend a lot of time to little effect. If you're hoping to find some sort of scandal on how he got out of it, I can't imagine that hasn't been sufficiently scrubbed to the point it's just speculation by now

(16,113 posts)Candidate. Everyone says they care about military service, but when it comes time to vote, recent history shows people don't really care. Last time the candidate with more military experience won was, what, 1988?
The issue, like trump himself is, IMHO, a waste of time.

(17,196 posts)doesn't care. I did not care that Obama had no military experience. Not important to me.

(58,724 posts)You can't say a POW is not heroic when you yourself got deferments to avoid serving.
It is the dumbest thing he could have possibly said as a candidate - and that is saying something.
I think it will mean the end of his candidacy.

(16,113 posts)Issue people SAY they care about a lot more than they really do. In any case, the trump campaign never stood a chance. It's 18 months, and most republicans are happy to let trump shoot his mouth off this far out.

(58,724 posts)It is another of a series of ridiculous childish comments of his disparaging McCain's time as a POW.

(5,790 posts)I'm no fan of McCain's politics, but I would never disparage his service to our nation -- nor would any sensible candidate of either party.
..of course, it didn't prevent Republicans from accusing John Kerry of exaggerating his wounds in 2004. That was equally if not more despicable.
