Confederate flag supporters rally in Birmingham’s Linn Park

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Around 250 supporters of the Confederate flag rallied in Birmingham’s Linn Park Saturday. The group was also present to protest the removal of the Confederate soldier monument that is located on the south side of the park.

“It is not about the cause,” Melvin Hasting, who has filed a lawsuit against Governor Robert Bentley over the removal of flags in Montgomery, said. “All of these monuments and memorials that we’re talking have significance because they commemorate the men who fought and died.”
