Mississippi flag removed from display on Juneau street

- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The Mississippi flag has been removed from a display of state flags lining one of downtown Juneau's main streets and replaced with a version that doesn't include Confederate imagery. The Juneau Empire reports that it has been replaced with the Mississippi Magnolia flag, a former state flag that features a magnolia tree and a star. Local businessman and former City and Borough of Juneau assemblyman Marc Wheeler was given permission to remove the flag, which he considers a symbol of racism and hate because of its confederate symbols ...
