Two questions: did Sandra Bland die as a result of a concussion sustained when she hit the ground?

Last edited Wed Jul 22, 2015, 05:20 PM - Edit history (2)

She was complaining about having hit her head, and that it affected her hearing, and that she had epilepsy. (To which the cop replies, "good.&quot

Post-concussion syndrome can lead to an increased risk of seizures, depression, and death -- among other things.

On the other hand, is it possible she died as a result of a seizure because she didn't have epilepsy medications for her three day stay?

Having been informed that she had epilepsy, how could they not have required a medical exam? Did they make sure she was taking any necessary medication?

I sure hope the family gets a good doctor for the repeat autopsy.

Post-concussion syndrome
Persistent post-concussion symptoms lasting three months or longer
Indicator of concussion severity
Precludes RTP while present
Increased risk of depression

Post-traumatic seizures
Seizure occurs days to months after concussion
Does require seizure management and precautions
Usually requires anticonvulsant therapy

For anyone who would like to help, an account has been set up on Act Blue to help Sandra's family pay for the cost of an investigation. This is eridani's post about that from yesterday:

That's a much more believable theory than the "suicide" tale (nt) Nye Bevan Jul 2015 #4

Sandra Bland and her loved ones deserve justice in this case. Whatever the ultimate cause of death, none of this should have happened. The actions and negligence of the cops lead to her death.

... And I had no idea it was related to hitting my head on concrete and being passed out for a while. I have already saw my primary care physician twice.

I thought I was having a stroke...

She also wasn't hungry... Another sign of traumatic brain injury...

If hey brain swell they can do a spinal tap... The brain would leave fluids in the spinal cord to indicate there's something wrong
