NEW YORK -- Chuck Todd never wanted to give up The Daily Rundown, his weekday morning politics show on MSNBC.
But when Todd was handed the reins of Meet the Press last fall, NBC News President Deborah Turness decided he should focus on the Sunday show, one of the broadcast networks marquee franchises, according to network sources. Some inside 30 Rock viewed the move as another example of management trying to maintain space between the NBC News and MSNBC brands.
Those days are over.
NBC News Chairman Andy Lack, who took the reins of the broadcast and cable networks in March, is bringing Todd back to MSNBC for a new weekday politics show that he'll host in addition to Meet the Press Sundays on NBC, according to sources.
Todds return to MSNBC is part of a re-NBC-ization of the cable network, which began drifting left in the later years of the Bush administration under former star Keith Olbermann. The cable network, which never had its own identity before Olbermann, next launched primetime programs, such as "The Rachel Maddow Show," before adding liberal opinion-focused shows throughout the dayside schedule, too...

If they would just bring back Olbermann and Donahue, ratings would go through the freaking roof.

It may be going further to the right if you ask me.

(11,366 posts)Trust me - their ratings will go further down the tubes.
Sanders has already confirmed Ed Shultz is gone.
If you're keeping Morning Joe and Chuck Toad and ousting Shultz and Hayes while adding a known liar to the line-up, you're doing it wrong.
Wasn't ratings why they needed to bring Shultz back to weekdays? If Todd is doing so poorly in the ratings with his one hour a week show, why do the PTB think he's going to improve on M-F?
I'll be looking for more alternative news sources rather that sitting through Todd's smarmy presence.

(11,366 posts)NO ONE likes Chuck Todd or Morning Joe.
Everyone likes Rachel.
Most want Keith Olbermann back.
Al is a roll of the dice.
Seems the NBC hacks are making the absolute wrong decision on direction.
When will news/info channels learn that they can't out-Fox Fox?
