wow. This could be happening faster than we thought

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027011354

we met with realtor tonight...we have to do some minor cosmetic repairs to ensure we get the best dollar we need. Then he is going to do a ...coming soon listing to drive up interest and then he feels we could have it sold in the next two months...wow

Looked at the first apartment yesterday. We love it-now the one we looked at may not be the unit we get and since it is an older hotel converted to apartments every layout is some different. We are cool with that as long as they are not any smaller. The one we looked at was about half the living space that we are used to. BUT the features are cool. High ceilings, exposed brick. No one comes in without being let in by someone living in that building. Security is very tight (has to be because it is center downtown) This model does have an exercise room but no pool...its okay the Y is two blocks away. We have more buildings to tour and then have to make a decision. If the house sells sooner than we plan (while that would be great money wise...) we might have to put all our stuff in storage and live in a rent by the week place for a while.

The apartments are pretty specific no matter which building. Being downtown is sought after and when a unit comes up, they go almost as fast.

Our nephew that lived with us while he finished college is going to take our Male boxer because he grew up with our nephew and they already have a bond. Often the boxer will go into our nephew's old room and look like he's trying to find him.

Most buildings allow one pet and we felt the female would adapt better to apartment style living.

Tonight talking to the realtor I realized that this is coming from my husband because mostly of my illness. We all know I probably have 15 good years left and I think he is trying to get us to transition to less and less responsibilities so that when I am gone, he won't have as much of adjustment. He will also be downtown and won't need to worry about driving.

We were very pleased with what the realtor told us about our home...what I thought all along...I think by Christmas we will be doing things a LOT different.

Thanks for your ideas and encouragement. Now just pray that the right unit comes along when the house sells ....if all goes according to plan it should be on the market next month. eek that's scary to me.

I can't post them because the basement disruptors like to cause problems but there are some really neat places.

I can show you the one we ruled out because they don't have a 2 bedroom open for at least a year

waiting to see if an apartment the size we need would come open.

IF they would allow under a lease to move up if one did become available and not punish us by "breaking lease" that might be an option.

they have several 1 bedrooms open

I move to this town 8 years ago and didn't know a soul, now I know half the town. Now, I just bought a house up north 200 hundred miles away and don't know a soul in that town. My new little house is 1,000 sq feet, moving out of a 2,500sq ft house and am now getting rid of stuff.

Everyone ask why. I say because I can. No family or children or grand kids.
My time is getting short, so I have get as much as I can in. A new adventure. Best of luck with yours.

My home until I moved to Denver 30+ years ago. Love Wichita. Used to hang out at Kirby's...was in the theatre department at Wilner. Wish we could move back, but the current state government scares me. Good luck to you!

and you are able to relax a little bit. I have yet to convince my husband that a smaller house with a small, simple yard would make our lives easier. Actually, it would make MY life easier, since I get stuck with most of the work.
