Well, at least SHE's safe...for the moment. Phew!

Rachel Maddow Has The Highest Rated Non-Fox News Show On Cable News

http://www.politicususa.com/2015/07/29/rachel-maddow-highest-rated-fox-news-show-cable-news.html

MSNBC may be canceling their liberal shows, but one show that won’t be going anywhere belongs to Rachel Maddow, who had the highest ratings of any non-Fox News show in July.

According to TVNewser, “CNBC’s Shark Tank is the ninth highest-rated program among the key demo, finishing ahead of all other non-FNC content. MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show finishes No. 15 as the highest-rated non-FNC program among total viewers. Maddow is also MSNBC’s highest-rated show in the demo, finishing at No. 19. Nancy Grace is HLN’s top show in both viewers and the key demo. Varney & Company leads Fox Business Network in both categories.”

After the cancelation of Ed Schultz’s show, there has been a lot of concern among liberals that MSNBC would dump all of their liberal hosts including Rachel Maddow. The ratings demonstrate that Maddow is the one ratings draw on the network. MSNBC executives have consistently taken the wrong lesson from Maddow’s success.

Instead of trying to find smart hosts who have charisma and put the news first, the network has tried to copy Maddow’s format by labeling her a wonk. Rachel Maddow is a policy wonk, but she is also very entertaining. Maddow never gets too deep into policy, and keeps things moving on her show.

_________________________

And here you have it:

It is well known that MSNBC considers only two programs safe. The network loves Joe Scarborough for some odd reason, and Maddow remains the face of MSNBC. NBC considers Maddow too “partisan” to be promoted to Meet The Press or any of the broadcast network shows...

Interesting how rarely Joe will allow Maddow to cross paths with him. You can count on one hand the number of times she's been used as a pundit on his show, and he NEVER comes on hers.

They've kept Joe Scarborough forever because he is a Republic0n. The rumor is that Olbermann will be back. LOL, I'll wait and see.

eta: Chuck Turd is not as liberal as once thought no matter how many of sent letters to MSNBC to rid ourselves of him...he's still there.

Of course that was when Obama was first elected as President in 2008 and he was doing the stats of MSNBC. But then, I guess you can't tell much from a person doing stats.

use local 'affiliates' and broadcast from journalists home office locations. Expand the free TV content to increase viewer numbers.

This is why fox is most profitable by far.

Heard around the editorial table:

'Soon after the show's cancellation, an internal MSNBC memo was leaked to the press stating that Donahue should be fired because he opposed the imminent U.S. invasion of Iraq and that he would be a "difficult public face for NBC in a time of war."'

is that Big Ed got canned because of his opposition to the TPP. I can believe that, but I also believe that he got canned for his coverage of Bernie Sanders. I see Rachel just had a spot covering Bernie, she better be careful. I watch Rachel and Chris Hayes because they stray from the M$M narrative. Anyone who believes that msnbc is liberal needs to explain to me; Phil Donahue, Keith Olbermann, Cenk Uygar, Martin Brashear, Dylan Ratigan, and now the latest bunch.

Olbermann's name is being thrown out as smoke bomb, a decoy, to appease the libruls who watch msnbc. If he is brought back I will apologize for this post.

Ed, who is a "self-avowed" former Republican very strongly and very obviously supported whatever he supported.

He supported were a strong public option, unions, esp. the unions against Walker, and Bernie Sanders.

However, while he urged and goaded while there was hope, my recollection is that, once the issue was acted on, he did not keep hammering. So, for example, after Obamacare passed without a strong public option, he got behind Obamacare as it passed. He did not keep harping on the public option. I haven't watched a lot of MSNBC, except maybe the overnight re-runs when I wake early enough.

I liked Alex Wagner. The Cycle changed at some point...they were getting into silly stuff, softening the politics. Before that, it was pretty good.
