Dentist who gunned down Cecil is suspended from prestigious Safari Club International

Safari Club International is suspending the membership of the Minnesota hunter accused of illegally killing a protected lion in Zimbabwe and wants a 'full and thorough investigation' into the lion's death.

The club, which promotes big-game hunting worldwide, issued a statement late on Wednesday saying memberships for Walter Palmer and his guide in Zimbabwe, Theo Bronkhorst, will be on hiatus until investigations are complete.

The Safari Club says 'those who intentionally take wildlife illegally should be prosecuted and punished to the maximum extent allowed by law.'

This comes as the US Fish and Wildlife service admitted they have been unable to find or speak to the Minnesota dentist, agency director Dan Ashe said on Thursday.
The admission from the Fish and Wildlife Service that they cannot locate Dr.Palmer comes after it emerged he could still face prosecution inside the United States for killing Cecil.

it should simply be honored. If there was a crime involved, let him face trial where it occurred.

My guess is they don't want any attention to be drawn to them and ditching him is a way of distancing themselves from scrutiny.

Wide shot look at #CecilTheLion protest outside Dr. Walt Palmer's office. Chanting, "ex-tra-dite, ex-tra-dite."

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) -
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service confirmed Thursday that its officials are trying to get in contact with Bloomington, Minnesota dentist Walter Palmer as they investigate the killing of Cecil the lion in Zimbabwe.

“The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing of Cecil the lion. That investigation will take us wherever the facts lead,” said Edward Grace, Deputy Chief of Law Enforcement of the agency. “At this point in time, however, multiple efforts to contact Dr. Walter Palmer have been unsuccessful. We ask that Dr. Palmer or his representative contact us immediately.”

Palmer is the target of international outrage after he reportedly paid more than $50,000 to kill the lion at Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park

Had no idea that many people would gather in front of his office.

By now, few people can comfortably admit he is their dentist.

they just don't want his stink on them. If they really gave a shit about animals, they would cease to exist and support conservation efforts.

If the Zimbabwe outfitting company lured the lion from the preserve without Palmer's knowledge, then his membership will probably be restored.

The guides may have been under some company pressure, due to guarantees to the client. The company would not want to lose any part of that 50k, or get a reputation for non-delivery which would endanger the fees from future clients.

This is an industry in parts of Africa, with many livelihoods and wildlife environments dependent on the money.

even tho he lied about it when arrested.
So he knew the shit storm that would come if he killed a lion in the park.

The lion he/they deliberately lured with fresh meat could have just as easily been Jonah, Cecil's pal and now successor...perhaps.
But by killing Cecil, they guaranteed the deaths of Cecil's 3 cubs by Jonah.
So 4 lion deaths are on this guy's head.
