I never heard of this person.

Checking two linked posts though, I am not seeing the misogyny, although that word perhaps has a strange definition here. Instead of meaning what the desk dictionary says "hatred of women" it seems to mean "somebody who has a different opinion than me/us on an issue where gender is involved."

One of the hides seems ridiculous too. There should be a distinction between "I disagree with what this person said" and "I think this should be hidden."

Who knows though, maybe the alert message explained very well WHY it should be hidden.

1800 posts in 8 years is like 4 posts a week. Or like 12 posts in one day, and then nothing for three weeks.

In the one thread I followed from a hidden post, she did not seem particularly nasty. Taking an unpopular position, but not especially nasty about it. There were, however, some self-deleted posts which may have been nasty, but aren't there permanently.

Obviously, the people who knew her and paid attention to her, knew her better than I did and EarlG found something he really didn't like, but this strikes me as an example.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=6711772

Her post there wasn't at all nasty. Not that I am agreeing with her, but I can see people that I like who might. Like say, my mom, who freaked out about my little sister's bikini way back when. Or a former pastor whose daughter had to wear a shirt when swimming.

I myself think it is kinda silly, but is it really worth drawing a line in the sand and saying that ALL of my friends need to agree with me on THIS issue, or we cannot be friends? Really? That sounds more like my fundamentalist cousin than it does a progressive.

Yet I notice in that very thread a few other DUers jumping in to the debate only to add the opinion - "you don't belong here".

Is that part of our super-secret plan to win elections or to make the Democratic Party and/or the country more progressive? By keeping our group pure and making sure we all march in lock-step?

It was a bit off putting in a way. But there are people who have been banned that I found nice and interesting. It was orobably a pattern of behavior or the admins got messages about her and decided they had had enough.

She came across as a totally unevolved Republican church lady, not so much as a troll, judging from her hidden posts.

She was unbearably smug, though.

There are a lot of unbearably smug types around here. And they all defend garbage like the TPP and the Turd Way, and cheer on the enablers thereof. Clearly, everything in their financially comfortable world is all duckies and bunnies and they want it to remain so. As for the rest of us......

When I said blaming Ray Price's wife was hurtful. The jury called me a "bully" for saying that. Blaming battered women, no problem. A survivor saying she found that hurtful, "bullying."

That really pissed me off.
