That's the subtitle if historian Kevin Kruse's book 'One Nation Under God.' It was brought to you by the same reichwing corporate assholes that tried to destroy FDR and the New Deal. They've been working at this for 80 years.

Nauseating but essential reading for anyone wondering why it's getting so hot in this handcart.

Also, check out "Wrapped in the Flag". It's a person's account of being raised by founders of the John Birch Society.

Much overlap between the two books

out the wazoo. But the historical truth is so depressing and vomit-inducing it can be a hard read at times.
