18 REPUBLICAN MEN Just Signed on to Shut Down The Govt in Order to Defund Planned Parenthood

FROM EMILY'S LIST:

07/30/2015

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is fast-tracking a bill to defund Planned Parenthood. And thanks to the pressure Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, and other anti-choice Republicans are putting on McConnell, the Senate is expected to vote on it before they leave D.C. for their August recess next week.

If it doesn't pass, 18 House Republicans have signed a letter committing to shutting down the government if Planned Parenthood isn't defunded. All 18 of them are men.

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have made denying women access to reproductive health care a cornerstone of their 2016 presidential campaigns. Anti-choice Republicans won't let up their pressure on Mitch McConnell anytime soon — and they won't stop until they defund Planned Parenthood once and for all.

Stand against Republicans like Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, and Rand Paul and help keep anti-choice Republicans out of the White House. We need to elect Democratic Women in 2016.

McConnell's hypocrisy here is stunning.
In 1993 he voted on a bill which legalized the donation of fetal tissue to support life-saving medical research. That's exactly what Planned Parenthood does, and the research has helped create vaccines and is spurring even more research that could help prevent miscarriages.

But anti-choice activists are using deceptive, heavily edited videos in an attempt to smear Planned Parenthood's work. And anti-choice Republicans are leaping on them in order to achieve their goal of finally defunding Planned Parenthood.

On Edit:
Here's a link to politico on this subject. I received the EMILY's List heads-up in my email today and am looking for a list of the 18 men lead by Ted Cruz who will vote to shut down the government over this.

I cannot locate the list of the 18, but it sounds like the same ones that wanted to shut down the govt last time Cruz's godly ego went spinning off the earth.

The Dems better step up to fight this. Every single one of them.

They claim not to like abortions but are all for every one to own a gun regardless of their ability to handle the gun sensibly. Yep, doesn't make sense.

"“The immovable object is about to meet the unstoppable force: Republicans cannot pass a bill that funds Planned Parenthood and congressional Democrats and President [Barack] Obama cannot vote for or sign a bill that defunds it,” said a senior Senate Democratic aide.

But many Republicans aren’t willing to go there yet, including the recipient of Cruz’s “show-vote” diss, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who’s working with Lankford, Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa and party leaders to set up next week’s vote to slash Planned Parenthood’s funding."
--------------------------------------

"McConnell's decision to keep the Senate in session into August to take on the controversy over Planned Parenthood has temporarily mollified some conservatives and anti-abortion groups, even if he has no chance of beating a Democratic filibuster.

But a failed cloture vote is going to leave many conservatives unsatisfied. And Senate GOP leaders have not discussed the more aggressive step of including a spending rider in the coming must-pass spending bill."
---------------------------------------

"Hard to imagine a Republican-controlled Congress voting to continue federal funding of Planned Parenthood in September,” said Dan Holler, a spokesman for Heritage Action, a conservative lobbying operation.

But if the Republican Congress tries to block that funding, Democrats say they won’t go along with it.
That places the federal government squarely in the cross hairs of a partisan shutdown fight this fall,
after a summer of more leaked Planned Parenthood videos and rising conservative agitation across the country."

If you really knew Hillary Clinton's dedication to women's rights issues, you wouldn't even present such an ____ statement.

This is about all women, girls, and yes, also men.

Don't come into this post about a serious issue like this one, and start hijacking it to make it a typical stupid juvenile anti Hillary bulllshit post.

This is about the assinign Ted Cruz Republican holier than thou women haters. It is about limiting critical health care for all women, especially those at the lowest end of the wage scale. It is about women, daughters, grandmothers, teenagers & single & unmarried college students.
If anyone here on DU dare argues the critical nature of what is at stake if PP is defunded, then You do not belong on a Democratic Liberal thinking site.
Do not come posting here until you know about and can value the long damn fight women have fought to be held equal in a human society. Women today have just been shoved up against a EFFin wall again, by the same KKK Right Wing, white male establishment of our self appointed patriarical lawmakers.

This is hardly the critical & devastating subject to mock or degrade in any way, so save the campaign snark or at least show the respect & stay out of MY Thread.
Don't make me have to repeat this .
Thank You

I just wrote and called Dems in Colorado; FOX and all the RWnuts are cranking up their disgusting rhetoric and showing the videos over and over although the court banned them. The groups behind these videos are the extremists who are willing to use violence to stop all organizations and limit women's health care.

Republicans and Democrats alike are horrified by the utter lack of compassion shown by Planned Parenthood for these women and their babies.” Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton has called the videos “disturbing,” said Ms. Ernst. “I agree,” the senator said, noting that with their defunding bill, there would be “no reduction in overall federal funding available to support women’s health.”

If you don't read it carefully, it sounds like HRC made the bolded statement, when it was Ernst who actually said it. Honestly, I don't know if it's deliberate or just poor writing.
