Holding cell death of black Alabama teen ruled suicide, but questions remain

Nine days after Kindra Darnell Chapman, an 18-year-old black woman, was found dead in a police holding cell in Homewood, Alabama, the district attorney’s office released preliminary findings that the death was a suicide. Despite that development, activists and Chapman’s family continue to question the circumstances of her death.
