Pink News story hereIf you think the animal kingdom is a simple matter of 'reproduce, repeat,' you're in for a surprise.
From the article:
Some hermaphroditic land snails actually have a detachable love dart penis which they fire at each other during courtship. So when they are not being awesome and non-gender/sexuality conforming, they are having fun stabbing each other with their penises

I always love the, "But look, other creatures do it, too, so it's natural. If it's natural for them, it's okay when humans do it."
I've seen that motivated-reasoning-by-analogy used a time or two, intended to be a convincing refutation of any moral argument opposed to the human practice under consideration.
Since this is basically saying snails do it, that means it must be okay stab a woman and have sex with her as she deals with the pain from the stab wound. By that measure something like drugging her is actually kinder and gentler. Not that I expect this analogy to be pointed out. Or the underlying fallacy of using analogical reasoning where it doesn't apply to suddenly be rejected.
Of course, that would nullify the entire black-widow mode of reproduction, something that isn't entirely culturally unacceptable.
