Krystal Ball and her show The Cycle, is off the air as of this evening. This afternoon is her last show.
And Ed Shultz is out and Chuck Todd is in. CHUCK TODD???? On MSNBC?
That is like removing an air purifier from your living room and replacing it with a machine that pumps in stale cigar smoke.

Happier times: my sister, Touré, Krystal, Abby and me on the set of The Cycle:

I'll be happy to pass your sentiments on, though, if you really want me to.
*on edit--as the other poster, mentioned, Krystal and Jonathan are very happy together. You're outta luck if you're waiting for that to fall apart any time soon.

(54,436 posts)He's a physicist with a specialty knowledge of crystallography. His name really is Ball, and he really named his daughter Krystal. Not her fault, and she's not in the least bothered by it or stuck up with her looks. She's as nice and unaffected as she is smart. We get together when we can, sometimes with former CNN financial editor Myron Kandel, who is a mutual friend. It's always fun to burn up a breakfast or lunch with off-the-record stuff they could never say on the air. Myke never let his political views seep through in his financial commentary when he was at CNN, but, for those that remember him (he is well over 80 now), he is very much one of us.

(54,436 posts)Stranger things have happened, of course, and if offered the job, she might yet take it just to be a positive influence, or at least as a counter-balance to the centrist crowd. So far, though, Krystal tells me, she has no definite plans yet, and that was as of this morning.

what is it about Chuck that makes him so attractive? I don't hate him but I'm pretty much "meh" about him...

(54,436 posts)Nothing so far. We're exploring possibilities, though my meager connections probably don't come close to rivaling hers. Her show is wrapping up right now. I'm sure her phone will be ringing at 4:01 PM eastern time.
I can't STAND Chuck Todd. You are far more charitable toward him than I ever could be.

(63,912 posts)Hopefully, she knew the handwriting was on the wall and has been looking for her next opportunity for a bit.

(54,436 posts)So far, she has no concrete plans. I probably won't be among the first to know when she does, but if I am, she'll ask me to keep it quiet until she's ready to have it become public knowledge.

And, I think some who think that taking Big Ed off before the TPP comes back for Congress Vote (probably not until January...but, maybe before if the other countries sign on quickly) means we have lost the only MSM voice against TPP.
But, the other consideration is that those who might have given a voice to Bernie Sanders are now silenced.

(34,137 posts)I like all of them but with Abby Huntsman on there I found The Cycle unwatchable. I also like Alex Wagner and hate to see her lose her show.
Of course, Chuck Todd is completely unwatchable and I will not waste electrons on him.
Oh well, the less I watch MSNBC the more I can catch up on the shows I've DVRed.

(8,333 posts)These talented people (Ed and Alex included) need to build an online presence using social media and live streaming.
The internet--as long as we have net neutrality--is still the new frontier in communication, there are still fresh niches to be carved.
