Two prominent moderates, Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) and Joe Donnelly (D-Ind.), voted to defund Planned Parenthood. Two others who were considered to be likely swing voters, Sens. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.), voted against the bill joining 43 other Democrats and Republican Sen. Mark Kirk of Illinois to defeat the measure.
Both Manchin and Donnelly, moderate Democrats from conservative states, said they could not support federal funding for Planned Parenthood while questions remain about the legality of the groups actions.
Ultimately they both decided to buck his party leaders and President Obama.

Traitors to all of us, both women and men, of the Democratic party. Remember them if you're in their states when they next come up for a primary challenge.

(19,565 posts)I very seldom slam Democrats in conservative states, but some things should be a carved in stone. Supporting the de-funding of the only access many poor women have to affordable reproductive health care and birth control is one of those things.

(19,537 posts)... when the Democrats took over the House right before Chocola later would become president of Club for Growth...
Wanted to support him then for having that happen, but he can probably be thankful that Chocola had Club for Growth heavily fund that Teaparty dip Mourdock mostly out of trying to get revenge probably rather than trying to win the seat.

(16,846 posts)Manchin and Donnelly are conservatives. They would belong in the GOP if the fascists hadn't taken over that party.
