Elizabeth Warren to GOP: “Did you fall down, hit your head and think you woke up in the 1950s?”

WATCH: Elizabeth Warren’s Furious Response to Republicans Who Are Trying to Roll Back Women’s Rights

Posted on Aug 5, 2015

“Did you fall down, hit your head and think you woke up in the 1950s?” begins the Massachusetts senator angry address to her Republican colleagues on the Senate floor Monday during an attempt to defund Planned Parenthood.

Elizabeth Warren goes on to list all the ways conservatives have been trying to restrict women’s access to legal health services in the past few years alone. Pointing out that it’s no coincidence that the vote on federal funds for the non-profit was scheduled the same week as Republican candidates are preparing for their big debate on Fox News, she says, “This is an all-out effort to build support to take a woman’s right to control her own body and access to medical care she may need…this affects all of us, whatever your age, wherever you may live.”

really really GOOD:

True enough. Shaming them does no good because those without shame cannot be shamed. They don't get it and never will.

They don't get it because they don't want to "get it".

They do think of this as theater, but to the rest of us, we think of just like Elizabeth does. How can we STILL be fighting for a woman's right to control her own body in 2015!

...who voted in those republicans. If she can shame the blue dogs, then she can alter the Dems towards being more progressive. And if she can shame the voters, then she can get dems in to finally replace all those republicans who are blithely taking away the rights of those who voted for them, as well as those who did not.

As you say, there's no point trying to shame the Repukes. They're bought and paid for and aren't going to budge. But you can nudge those others to seeing that it's in their best interest NOT to vote with those Repukes...or for them.

Every one of these damn assholes trying to roll back our reproductive rights - is a man. Every one of these bedroom busybodies up on their podiums pontificating about the need to chip away at the access to contraceptives and health management and family planning and leaving women high and dry - is a MAN.

It. Takes. A. WOMAN.

What's scary is that many millions of women are also anti-choice and are helping lead the charge to defund PP. Joni Ernst is a good example. She, among other women, couldn't wait to rush out and announce the need following the video release.

Well written and perfectly delivered.

And I'm stuck with Sen Ayotte here in NH. Can't speak into a microphone without her voice quavering. Perhaps it's a physical disability and if so, I apologize in advance.
But I tend to believe that she's simply not ready for prime time and/or chronically insincere.

Bravo Sen Warren!
