Target said last week that it would remove gender labeling from the toys section and some other areas in response to criticism on social media over separate labeling for Building Sets and Girls Building Sets.
Theyre going gender neutral, whatever that is, Fox News host Steve Doocy said while teasing an upcoming segment. Have the PC police gone too far?
Is this going to confuse you? I know its going to confuse me, Alcides Segui of Fox affiliate WTVT laughed. And theyre doing it not only at this store here in Tampa but all Target stores across the country.

But who are we helping? Kilmeade wondered. The nine people who are upset by this? If you go buy a gift for a boy who is nine or six or a girl who is nine or six, you want to be able to go to that section and pick out a toy they might want.
Now you have to sit there and look at a blended area and wonder, Is this for a boy or a girl,' he complained. Theres going to be some unhappy boys and unhappy girls now.

(1,712 posts)That, or they'd like to believe that people are so dumb that they can't look at a toy and decide if they think their kid would like it. Newsflash, Fox - a child in a toy aisle doesn't read "boy" or "girl" signs, they just gravitate to what they think looks like fun!

(28,342 posts)(especially boys) from the "wrong" toy aisle and push them into the "right" one, while explaining to them that these are the GIRL toys, you need to look over here in the boy's section.
I have seen it on occasion with girls but the reaction is generally a little less obvious and overt in it's harsh disapproval. Girls get the "How about a nice play set or some clothes for your Barbie?" or "Let's keep looking for a while first" followed by grandma standing in the middle of the pink crap going "Hey Emmy, come over here and look what grandma found."

(118,332 posts)There was a time when girls had long hair and wore dresses, while boys had short hair and wore pants
Back then, it was pretty easy to tell them apart
But nowadays, it's really really confusing
So even when toys have labels, you still can't be sure you're giving the right toy to the right child!
The only solution I see is to tattoo kids at birth with a nice label on the forehead so everybody knows the difference
