Rally for Confederate battle flag sparks protests in Plantation, Sunrise (FL)

By Mike Clary and Erika Pesantes
Sun Sentinel
August 16

Several hundred people, most in pickup trucks and on motorcycles, took part in a 15-mile road rally in support of the Confederate battle flag Sunday ... Protestors chanted "Black Lives Matter" along with "Whose streets? Our streets!" and "F--- your flag." A knife was displayed and a gun was waved by those supporting the Confederate flag ... There were exchanges between the groups that began a conversation, albeit a short one, about heritage and racism, said protester St. James Valsin. It abruptly came to an end when the weapons were displayed ... Jodi-Ann Henningham, 20, one of the protesters in Sunrise, ... questions why similar expressions of collective support for the flag did not take place prior to the mass shooting ...

Western Broward County, FL - One of a few places in So. Florida where redneck losers still roam. Scurrilous Aug 2015 #2
When I lived in S Fla in the late 70's/80's, that area, specifically Davie was VERY rural. A HERETIC I AM Aug 2015 #3
That whole area is very confusing to me (I'm in NW Miami-Dade). Scurrilous Aug 2015 #4

"questions why similar expressions of collective support for the flag did not take place prior to the mass shooting"

I suppose that we'd defend Tulsa, OK, from invasion, but I really don't see the tanks and AA guns lined up that you'd expect to be there. So perhaps we wouldn't defend Tulsa.

Then again, the reason for a defense is the attack. No attack, no defense needed.

Davie is just South of Plantation. "Davietucky" is what it was called, often the butt of jokes on morning radio.

This does not surprise me in the least.

While driving through the intersection of Flamingo Road and Sheridan, I noticed I was in Pembroke Pines, Davie, Cooper City, and Southwest Ranches all at the same time.

Wha'?

Plus everyone speaks the wrong language.
