http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/john-oliver-televangelistsFollowing a seven-month correspondence with televangelist Robert Tilton (and more than $300 in donations on Oliver's part), "Last Week Tonight" laid bare how sleazy televangelists can be, with the host explaining how they swindle thousands of dollars out of their followers.
Not only is everything youve seen so far legal but the money people donate in response to it is tax free," Oliver said. "Because if youre registered as a religious nonprofit, or especially a church, you are giving broad exemptions over taxation and regulation.

(21,925 posts)was the late Gene Scott (preferably high). His show would run for hours on UHF channels. He was a weirdo, usually very angry and yelling his angry feelings to his tV audience that didn't send in enough money or yelling angry words at Pat Robertson or Jimmy Swaggart for giving teachers like himself a bad name with all their money grubbing (even though he did the same thing). Sometimes he would spend an entire broadcast sitting in a chair, saying nothing but scowling at the camera. He was a trip.

Another one we used to just laugh at was Jack Van Impe.
Him and his ditzo wife were hilarious.
"The Pope sneezed today..."
"It's the Endtimes! (Fill in the blank obscure Bible verse) says that's one of the signs of the rapture and Antichrist!"
And before the scandal hit, Jim and Tammy Bakker were hilarious too.
