Except that he's turning out to be formidable campaigner.
Everyone knows who he is.
He's smooth, supremely self-confident and never at a loss for words.
Money is no problem. He says he's ready to spend a $Billion.
He's the media's darling.
He's the Tea Party favorite.
He's emerged as the anti-establishment choice. (I know, I know)
If Ben Carson or Marco Rubio is his running mate, minority voters could be won over.
If you think voters are too smart to do this, all I can say is, you don't understand this country.

(92,217 posts)double digit leads one would expect, and that should be quite troublesome to exactly the thought process that appears to be going on in the country

(21,925 posts)Would he get us involved in unwinnable ground wars all in the furtherance of his image as a "war president"? Could he absolutely rape and destroy the economy the way el chimpo did with his laissez faire policy towards hedge funds and the "dark markets". I don't know. Maybe he could. A least Trump isn't mentioning God at every turn, saying that God told him to run for office the way the Chimp did.

(4,609 posts)it would not surprise me if Trump goes all the way to the White House. It would horrify me, but not surprise me.

The primary electorate is notoriously hard to model.

It's about as gross as you might imagine.

(12,754 posts)Trump is the true face of the GOP. He says out loud, in public, and in plain speech what the others are saying in code words and dog whistles, or in posh country club locker rooms, and in private venues, or would like to say but don't.
Let him keep on talking. He is holding up a mirror to the other GOP candidates. They are lashing out at him because they don't like what they see in the mirror.
Just take the furor over his remarks about Megyn Kelly. His remarks were insulting, misogynist, and juvenile -- but that's not what's got the corporate media fired up. In fact, under other circumstances a lot of the other GOPers would have a chuckle along with him -- and have probably said worse. The furor over Kelly is to obscure the important truth that he told -- that candidates are for sale on the open market. He donates to all the candidates, he said, because then he can make them jump when he wants them to, and they have to because they took his money.
For a member of the One Percent to admit that is devastating. So, you've seen tens of thousands of stories about his stupid remarks about Kelly, but almost no stories about his telling the real truth of totally corrupt political system.
Let the Donald keep on talking. He IS the GOP -- and never let anyone forget that.
