Art of the Deal? Has anyone actually listened to Trump talk about Foriegn Affairs?Do people really want for the Head of State, someone that glories in screwing the other side?
Unlike in business, there are a finite number of players on the other side, and you get one shot at screwing them ... and making $$$ is not their primary motivator.
He talks about cutting the military ... well, if he becomes president, we'll need a much larger military, as we will be using them everywhere in the world he touches.
I could imagine in any negotiation he touches ... if by chance it goes well, it will all be undone when, on the following Monday, he goes on the TV to tell everyone how smart he is and how he took such advantage of the negotiating nation.

(23,946 posts)advocating for a police state ruled by a dictator. A white one only, of course, the mass media certainly agrees.
A black man wants and tries to govern by consensus and bi-partisanship, for 6 years he tries and beseeches and explains, but is rejected at ever turn...apparently THAT is the dictator!??

(31,849 posts)That is the world, in which, most CEOs live.
I think a key diffference between a CEO mindset and the Head of State mindset is the CEO seeks to create/exploit advantages, in order to beat the opposition/other side; whereas, a Head of State seeks to not be taken advantage of, in order to peacefully coexist.

Maybe he'll have the White House redone in a gold mirrored finish.

(24,692 posts)The Democratic approach of negotiating mutually agreeable diplomatic solutions to global problems is lost on their base which loves it when the U.S. acts all macho and acts unilaterally without consultation, essentially "screwing the other side". And, as in the case of his mythical Great Wall of Mexico, perhaps his base even thinks we can make the "other side" pay to get "screwed".
The fact that to him the "other side" is also American workers - through promoting more 'right-to-work' and eliminating corporate taxes - seems to escape the notice of his supporters.
