This is insane. Has there ever been a data breach of this magnitude before?
Now the hackers behind that breach, who call themselves Impact Team, have released another dump, double the size of the previous one.
Hey Noel, you can admit it's real now, reads a message posted on the same dark web site hosting the earlier data dump.
<>
Along with the message is a new torrent file that directs to a massive archive just under 20GB in size. Judging by the file names, it could include Biderman's emails (one compressed folder is called noel.biderman.mail.7z), and more internal data rather than customer information.

From what I've read AM's security was better than what a lot of websites have in place. Considering the scope of this hack it's something everyone in the industry should be paying attention to very intently. I suspect the end moral of the story is to be much more careful who you allow to have access to your data.

Also, what if someone was sneaking home at 2:00 AM and their suspicious wife or husband was sitting there with a shotgun?
Oops...
Almost makes me feel not so bad about being lonely. It's bad, but at least I don't have this in my life.

(19,567 posts)Not with this mess though. I'm sure there are class action lawsuits in the works as I type this. Then there will be the personal lawsuits for people who can prove real damages. AM is on a short road to bankruptcy. In hindsight I suspect they'll feel it would have been better to shut the business down and spare so many people the fallout of their association with the site.
I'm with you. Being lonely is a far sight better looking today than being caught up something like this disaster.

I think adultery is repugnant (or at least the sneaky kind - how a couple decides to manage their personal affairs is their business), but this was a legal activity so I hope the hackers are found and prosecuted.
