Nationwide Mandatory LEO Liability Insurance
Each LEO should have to purchase his or her own single-payer liability insurance. Just like with car accident insurance, any excessive payouts would make their insurance rate increase to the point where they are not able to afford it. No insurance, no job.

(7,745 posts)Insurance is just another level of separation between corrupt cops and reasonable punishment for their crimes. Your plan is just making cops who arn't criminals pay for criminals in other cities.

(4,482 posts)Punishing LEO's for their crimes does not relieve the tax payer from having to pay for civil lawsuits. If a LEO has done nothing wrong, there is no reason for his liability insurance rate to increase. Individual rates would increase with wrongdoing to the point of being unaffordable.
