Another round of shots, good sir!

Florida Gun Range To Serve Booze, Because What Could Go Wrong?
Getting blasted has a whole new meaning.

Commissioners in Daytona Beach, Florida, approved a measure Wednesday that will allow the opening of a 12-lane gun range connected to a booze-filled restaurant. Commissioners were "leery" at first, because alcohol and guns don't mix, but they came around to the idea, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

They were reportedly swayed by the business' strict rules against shooting after drinking. Everyone who eats or drinks at the restaurant will have to submit to an ID scan, and if they've had alcohol, they won't be allowed to shoot at the range that day, WFTV reports. In addition, guns won't be allowed in the restaurant, though commissioners pointed out that the policy won't stop people with concealed carry licenses from entering.

Patrons who go to the gun range will also have to sign an affidavit promising they're not drunk.

It would have been really bad if they could drink and then go out to the gun range, but to be done with a "day's shooting" and retiring to the bar with a concealed weapon doesn't exactly thrill me either.

Because of course they did. I'm not 100% anti-gun, but this is frickin' stupid.

the US probably surpasses the next ten greatest Stupidity Surpluses combined.

Mind you, STUPIDITY is the measured metric, not backward, retrograde assholishness like Saudi Arabia, which remains an uncontested #1 in THAT field.

But in terms of Stupidity, we're NUMBER ONE, baby! Not even close.

If we could convert our boundless American Stupidity reserves into clean energy we'd have enough for 10,000 years and warp drive no later than Festivus 2016

The problem should take care of itself after a few years.

Maybe Zimmerman could cut the ribbon on the shot bar...

6. Now, what was that about criminals not obeying laws anyway?

I've heard that somewhere, usually as an argument that any sort of regulation of guns and their owners is an exercise in utter futility. But apparently the gun range will accept the word of a patron who swears under oath that he (and you know it will be he) is not drunk. I guess only the best of guys with guns will be at the Daytona range. And only the open carry aficionados will have to check their guns at the door of the restaurant. The concealed carry folks can't even be searched because of freedom. I smell a lawsuit based on disparate impact being brought by the open carry faction.

Nope, can't see a blessed thing wrong with any part of this proposal.

They all have bars. IMO, guns and booze shouldn't mix but people drive to places that serve alcohol in large numbers every day.

(who is actually cool and I like him a lot) has a t-shirt that says "Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms ought to be a convenience store, not a government agency".

Like all things, there are good people involved and less-than-preferable people involved.

Myself, I'd rather not live downrange of a gun range.

Drunk w/beer and cig vs. Air Compressor

Nothing can go wrong when drunk people are involved!
