Obama paving the way for a future Republican in the WH to dismantle Social Security

This is not by accident. Obama is firmly under the sway of the Pete Peterson Social Security-cutting Wall Street cabal on this issue.

If Obama were against the Wall St. billionaires' plan -- of raising the Social Security retirement age, cutting benefits by employing a chained-CPI, or even outright privatization of the program -- he would be making multiple, prominent, national speeches imploring Congress to work with him in raising the taxable income cap subject to FICA (an approach, incidentally, which Martin O'Malley actually is advocating).

Needless to say, much of the country doesn't even know that FICA contributions are capped at only $106,800 of income earned. But they would know if Obama were to speak often and repeatedly about it (he once, some years ago, mentioned it in passing during a campaign speech, but that's hardly "speaking often and repeatedly about it".)

It does not matter one bit if any legislative plans to lift or eliminate the cap were to fail miserably in a GOP-controlled Congress; all that really matters is that the American public becomes completely and unambiguously aware of the cap -- and how the GOP and 3rd Wayers are attempting to dismantle the program for the sake of saving a few very rich people some tax dollars. The GOP would then find it extremely difficult, if not completely impossible, to ever monkey around with Social Security once the American public in general knew what they were up to and how raising the cap would otherwise fix any solvency issues.

Usually, in this country, an issue doesn't even "exist" until a President actually opens his mouth and speaks about it. Then the issue magically comes into existence.

All Obama has to do to protect Social Security from the GOP is simply, on the national stage, talk about lifting the cap, and keep talking about it, and keep talking about it, and keep talking about it -- until it can never be forgotten in the mind of the nation.

However, Obama is not going to do this; he is purposefully keeping his mouth shut in openly proposing the proper way to ensure Social Security's solvency because he is a Reagan Democrat/moderate Republican himself.

He is not serving the American people on this; he is serving billionaire Pete Peterson, Robert Rubin, and all the rest of the oligarchs.

non-existent cuts to Social Security.

It's hilarious how some self-proclaimed liberals still keep trying to push this bullshit for 6+ years now.

Fucking fail.
