Cruz sticks with critique of Jimmy Carter, day after cancer revelation

DES MOINES, Iowa – Sen. Ted Cruz stuck to his stump speech Friday at the Iowa State Fair “soapbox” – including the part drawing a parallel between the Obama era and the failed domestic policies, economic malaise and “feckless” foreign policy of Jimmy Carter.

Carter begat Ronald Reagan, and Barack Obama is setting the stage for another conservative revolution, preferably led by him. That’s Cruz’s argument, a standard element of his pitch to voters.

But this came just a day after Carter, 90, announced that he has cancer that had spread to his brain, would begin radiation treatment immediately, and was at peace with whatever happens.

Asked whether his attack was appropriate, given the grave threat to the health of the 39th president, Cruz defended his remarks.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) made a crass and poorly timed joke about Vice President Joe Biden on Wednesday, days after Biden's son Beau died from brain cancer.

According to Detroit News reporter Chad Livengood, Cruz was speaking at a meeting of the Livingston County Republican Party outside Detroit when he mocked Biden.

"Vice President Joe Biden. You know the nice thing? You don't need a punch line," Cruz said.

Biden's son Beau died on Saturday from brain cancer. The family is holding a public viewing on Thursday in Dover, Delaware. On Saturday, President Barack Obama is to deliver a eulogy at the funeral in Wilmington, Delaware.

is a better name for Cruz. No decency required; only bombast.

I also just thought of something; say Bush is the GOP nominee, and his father Bush Sr. dies a week before the election? Who gets hurt/helped? Does it help Jeb bc people and the media will wanna be nice? Or does it hurt bc it reminds people of his last name and presidential elite heritage?

For one whose father professes to be holier than thou, Ted seems incapable of showing one iota of humanity let alone compassion.
